I have not yet met a protein shake I like. I hate the taste of artificial sweeteners. Like hate. I hate stevia and Splenda the most. They taste like sweet nausea or something.
I bought this bc it had really good reviews and I really need to be getting more protein in. I hate it. I’m also extremely low income so tossing it and buying something else is just out of the question.
I mixed it with skim milk, awful. Mixed it with my hot coffee for a creamer, awful.
Any advice on making this into something tolerable?

I’ve heard people say they enjoy making popsicles out of protein shakes. I’ve never done it before, but you could look around the internet for recipes. Things like this usually taste less off-putting when they’re cold
Skin milk in general makes protein shakes taste bad. I use evaporated milk and water but it will bump up calories. Could you maybe turn it into mug cakes or something?
Maybe try putting it in baked goods? Like mug cakes and the like, so that the other ingredients hide the flavor. You can also put a little bit in a smoothie, try and hide it with the fruit flavors.
Ugh I hate it when I get a dud protein flavor. It’s been a while fortunately.
I just mix them w skim or cashew milk and drink fast while holding my breath, followed by a chaser of water. Purely utilitarian.
I put this brand into baked goods. I just made “healthy” pumpkin cookies yesterday with the vanilla flavor. The Low Calorie Pumpkin protein cookies from Lauren fit foodie. You can’t even taste the powder.
Just chug it
What about a coffee smoothie? We do ours with coffee, protein powder, frozen bananas, and a little peanut butter..
This isn’t advice for this stuff but for the future. So I personally hate the “creamy” protein shake flavours unless they are with milk. And a lot of companies only make the chocolate or vanilla or whatever. So I would never drink them. But! There’s a brand called Revolution Nutrition and they make Candy Peach flavour, and it seriously tastes like juice when shaken in water. It’s really good in smoothies too. It’s a Canadian company but I’ve gotten it shipped to the US. 120 cal for a scoop. Now I actually drink protein shakes.
Because its coffee…. Have you tried brewing dunkin coffee with almond milk and making a protein latte? The real coffee might cover up some of the nasty coffee flavor???
Update: just put it in my blender with frozen strawberries. Awful. Added a bit of cacao, still bad. Put a bit of whole milk, nope. Added some allulose. Trying to not wretch. Tried it at every stage of this experiment.
The only protein thing I can stand is clear pea protein drink (elderflower and apple). And even then I have to kinds chug it but it’s much more refreshing and not chalky. You may try adding it to mug cakes that’s the only way I can get protein powder into me. Or in othrt baked goods/pancakes
Try blending it with a banana and maybe cocoa powder. It’s the only way I can get down a bad protein powder!
Perhaps you could try adding some kind of extract, like vanilla/chocolate or almond, to change the taste. Or some other kind of food flavouring?
If you were going for coffee, add some instant coffee powder. The bitter coffee taste will cover up the artificial sweetener. I’d keep it iced, generally heat + protein powder is not a good combo unless its been formulated for that. For instance, in oatmeal it gets soooo grainy.
My instant coffee rec is Mount Hagen- I got it on Amazon, a small price point above like Nescafe but not up there with the crazy online brands that can get to like $4 a serving. Godspeed soldier
I didn’t think this was terrible but it wasn’t amazing either. I use half a scoop of it with half a scoop of another flavor, just to make it taste better.
I do not like protein powders, they have this horrible aftertaste. However, I’ve found mixing it with Greek yogurt to make like a mousse somehow gets rid of the aftertaste.
Try yogurt
What does it actually taste like?
I hate protein shakes and protein powder. I’ve found two ways to make protein coffee: 1) pure collagen protein powder because it’s almost entirely flavorless, sweetened with allulose (closer to sugar than splenda or stevia) and a tablespoon of cream, and 2) Kroger brand Carbmaster nonfat chocolate milk, which is 80cal per cup and 11g protein–equal parts that and coffee makes it taste like a mocha, and I particularly like it iced.
Ok, I had the “glazed donut” version of this and it is also rancid. It tastes like a ballpoint pen and no other flavors or mixers help. Just gotta chug it.
Good luck.
OK, this happened to me me with a different coffee flavored protein powder. I brewed very strong iced coffee and put a scoop of the powder and a bit of
100% unsweetened dark chocolate cocoa powder. Had to be served over ice. I also froze almond milk into cubes and blended it sometimes ( that was really tasty).

I got the fruity pebbles flavor from this brand and most often mix it in my oatmeal. Maybe try that? FWIW I enjoy the pebbles flavor and it’s pretty spot on to what I remember the cereal tastes like and I usually hate most protein powders.
I got the mocha flavor and it was awful. The chocolate flavor just takes like a decent chocolate milkshake to me, though, so I mixed in a little mocha with the chocolate and eventually used it up. I would try making a shake with it using half a scoop cappuccino powder, 10 oz of strong cold brew or iced coffee, a serving of vanilla yogurt, and a few drops of vanilla extract.
It’s only 20 servings, just pinch your nose and chug it 😭
This is my constant fear with protein powder. My nutritionist keeps telling me to add them, but the containers are huge and I don’t know if I’ll like it. I need sample packets. Totally understand your frustration.
